We believe that kids should play with imagination and abandon. Not PVCs. We also believe that th ere are alternatives to PVCs that make our products even better. Therefore, our play equipment is 99.999% PVC-Free. We are proud to be the first major U.S. manufacturer to remove 99.999% of PVCs from our products. And we will remove the remaining .001% as soon as alternative supplies are available. This is just one of the many ways we are striving to help the environment and reducing our total carbon footprint – from materials sourcing to manufacturing to distribution. We are making tangible changes so kids can play in a healthier world.
As the current state of the environment has become a focus and an important part of corporate responsibility, Playworld Systems has become a certified ISO 14001 company by demonstrating measurable results against its commitment to eliminating waste and redefining its operation. In 2007, 90 percent of all waste produced by the company was recycled including: 2.3 million pounds of steel, 500,000 pounds of HDPE plastic, 54,000 pounds of wood, and 79,000 pounds of paper. More recently, Playworld abandoned the use of polyvinyl chloride plastic (PVC) in its products, and replaced all products with thermoset Polyethylene (PE), a tough, durable and environmentally friendly alternative. Playworld Systems’ employees continuously recycle batteries, aluminum cans, office paper and glass & plastic bottles and many participate in a car pooling program. Throughout all corporate facilities, lighting systems have been updated to T-5 florescent lights.
Because Playworld Systems believes the world needs play, it strives to produce the most innovative, creative and imaginative products, while at the same time, tangibly reducing its carbon footprint.
Enter the Green Grant Program. Midwest Playscapes, in conjunction with Playworld Systems, is offering a limited number of play grants towards the purchase of Playworld Systems Playground Equipment.
